Acrylic Lucky Draw Box: Which Size and Type to Buy for Your Event

A lucky draw box has one job: let people see a fair draw. This guide explains which size to buy for your crowd, when to choose clear, coloured or mirror acrylic, the difference between a draw box and a donation box, and what each one costs.

Acrylic Lucky Draw Box: Which Size and Type to Buy for Your Event

The question behind this page

I am organising an event and need a lucky draw box. Which size and type should I buy, and how much is it?

Key Takeaways

  • 20 cm suits a class or small office, 25 cm suits most company events, and 30 cm suits an annual dinner or roadshow.
  • Clear acrylic shows the entries, so the draw looks fair. Coloured and mirror boxes hide them and look better on stage.
  • A lucky draw box has a wide round hole for a hand. A donation or suggestion box has a narrow slot, often with a lock.
  • Screw-together boxes pack flat after the event and can be tightened again. They last longer than thin glued boxes.
  • UMAKE prices: clear box RM37.88 / RM57.88 / RM87.88, coloured box RM64.90 / RM94.90, mirror box RM39.90.

The Short Answer

For most company events, buy a 25 cm clear acrylic lucky draw box. Go up to 30 cm for an annual dinner or roadshow, and down to 20 cm for a classroom or a shop counter.

Choose a clear box when the point is trust: guests can see real entries inside. Choose a coloured or mirror box when it will sit on a stage or a registration table and needs to match the event theme.

If you already know what you need, the three ready-made boxes are here: the clear lucky draw box, the coloured lucky draw box and the mirror lucky draw box.

Which Size: 20, 25 or 30 cm?

Lucky draw boxes are cubes, so each step up in size holds much more than it looks. A 25 cm box holds about twice what a 20 cm box holds, and a 30 cm box holds more than three times as much.

SizeInside volumeBest for
20 × 20 × 20 cmAbout 8 litresClassrooms, small offices, shop counters, name-card draws
25 × 25 × 25 cmAbout 15 litresMost company events, shop promotions, school events
30 × 30 × 30 cmAbout 27 litresAnnual dinners, roadshows, exhibitions, large unfolded entry forms

Two things matter more than headcount:

  • How big each entry is. A folded slip takes little room. An unfolded A5 form or a name card with a sticker takes much more.
  • Whether you need to mix. Entries only mix well when the box is about half full. A packed box gives the last people to enter a better chance, because their slips sit on top.

When you are between two sizes, take the bigger one. The price difference is small next to the cost of an event, and nobody remembers a box that was too big.

Clear, Coloured or Mirror?

All three are acrylic. The difference is how much of the inside you can see.

TypeWhat guests seeChoose it when
ClearEvery entry, from every sideFairness matters most: prize draws, voting, raffles
Coloured (black, white, red, pink)Entries through one clear side, or nothing if fully coveredThe box sits on stage and should match the theme
Mirror (gold, silver, rose gold)A reflective cube; entries are hiddenWeddings, launches and registration tables

The coloured box comes in two versions: one side transparent, where the audience still sees the entries from the front, and fully covered, where nothing shows. The fully covered version stops anyone reading a name through the panel, which some organisers prefer for staff draws.

Round Hole or Slot?

This is the difference between a lucky draw box and a donation box, and people often order the wrong one.

  • Round hole (10–15 cm): wide enough for a hand. Use it when someone will reach in and draw a winner.
  • Narrow slot: lets paper, cards and money in but nothing out. Use it for donations, feedback forms and votes that are counted later.

If the box will hold money or ballots, pick a slot and a lock. Our acrylic donation box with lock is RM21.90, and the acrylic collection box comes in three sizes from RM15.90 with custom sizes on request. The mirror box can be ordered with either opening.

Screwed or Glued?

Cheap boxes are glued at the edges. They look fine on day one, then crack at a corner the first time they are carried by the top or stacked in a store room.

Our clear and mirror boxes are screwed together at the corners. That gives three practical benefits:

  • The box arrives flat and assembles in minutes with the screws supplied.
  • A panel comes off, so you can empty it without tipping it upside down.
  • It packs flat again after the event, and a loose screw can be tightened.

For a box that stays on permanent display, a glued build has cleaner corners. We compare the two builds in glued vs self-assembly acrylic boxes.

Delivery is RM9 within Klang Valley and RM14 to the rest of Peninsular Malaysia, and you can also collect from our Balakong factory. Because the boxes ship flat, a box rarely arrives damaged.

A plain box does the job. A box with your company or sponsor name on the front does it while appearing in every photo of the draw.

We make these boxes ourselves in Balakong, so we can:

  • print a logo, event name or sponsor name on the front panel;
  • cut a different size, for example a tall box for a narrow counter;
  • change the opening to a slot, or add a lock;
  • make a colour outside the standard four.

Send the artwork, the size and the quantity on WhatsApp. We send a layout to approve before we cut anything.

Running a Fair Draw

The box helps, but the way you run the draw matters more.

  1. Use one size of slip. Mixed sizes are easy to feel by hand.
  2. Ask everyone to fold the same way, once or twice.
  3. Mix before every draw, with the box where the audience can see it.
  4. Peel the protective film off every panel before the event. A new box looks cloudy until you do.
  5. Keep the box in sight from the first entry to the last prize.

If your draw is a public contest with a purchase or an entry fee, check whether it needs approval before you advertise it. Rules for public contests are separate from the box itself, and the organiser is responsible for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size lucky draw box do I need?

A 20 cm cube suits a class, a small office or a counter. A 25 cm cube suits most company events and shop promotions. A 30 cm cube is the safer choice for an annual dinner, a roadshow or any draw where entries are large or left unfolded. If you are unsure, go one size up: a half-empty box mixes better than a packed one.

How much does an acrylic lucky draw box cost in Malaysia?

At UMAKE the clear screw-together box is RM37.88 for 20 cm, RM57.88 for 25 cm and RM87.88 for 30 cm. The coloured box is RM64.90 for 25 cm and RM94.90 for 30 cm, and the 20 cm mirror box is RM39.90. Printed logos and custom sizes are quoted separately.

Clear or coloured: which is better for a lucky draw?

Clear is better when you want people to see that entries are real and the box is filling up, which is why it is also used as a voting box. A coloured or mirror box looks more like stage decoration and hides the entries, which some organisers prefer so that nobody can read a name through the side.

Can the box be opened to take the entries out?

Yes. The clear and mirror boxes are screwed together, so a panel comes off for emptying and the box packs flat afterwards. The coloured box has a lid that opens so the emcee can mix the entries and draw on stage.

Can I print my company logo on the box?

Yes. We print or apply a logo, event name or sponsor name on the front panel, and we can make a different size or colour. Send the artwork and the quantity on WhatsApp and we will quote it.

Why does my new acrylic box look cloudy or scratched?

Acrylic sheet ships with a protective film on both faces. Peel it off every panel before or after assembly and the box turns clear.

Is a lucky draw box the same as a donation box?

They are built the same way but the opening differs. A lucky draw box has a wide round hole so a hand can go in to draw. A donation or suggestion box has a narrow slot, and often a lock, so nothing can be taken out.
