When a coffee chain is opening outlets quickly, the small things on the counter — the pastry boxes, the menu holders, the tip box — have to look exactly the same in every store. That consistency is what makes a brand feel established. It is also surprisingly hard to get right when you are sourcing from different suppliers under time pressure.
That was the brief when the team behind Kenangan Coffee came to UMAKE: branded acrylic displays for the counter, identical across outlets, delivered fast enough to keep up with their opening schedule.
The challenge: consistency at speed
Off-the-shelf acrylic stands were either the wrong size for their counters or impossible to brand cleanly. Ordering custom pieces from multiple workshops meant slightly different thicknesses, finishes and print colours every time — the opposite of what a growing brand needs. They needed one factory that could design, produce and repeat.
What we made
Working from their brand sketches, our in-house design team drew up a small family of counter pieces in CAD and sent a free design proof before anything was cut:
- Acrylic pastry display boxes with hinged lids, sized to fit their standard counter.
- Menu & promo holders — slot-in acrylic tent cards for seasonal drinks.
- Tip & collection boxes with the logo UV-printed in brand colours.
How we did it
Everything was made in-house at our Selangor factory. We used 3mm and 5mm clear acrylic, CO2-laser cut for clean edges, with the logos UV-printed directly onto the acrylic so the colours stay sharp and do not peel like stickers. Because the design lived as a CAD file with us, every re-order for a new outlet came out identical — same dimensions, same finish, same colour.
The result
New outlets could be fitted out with a complete, on-brand counter set in a matter of days. There was no back-and-forth with multiple suppliers and no drift in how the displays looked from store to store — just one CAD file, re-run on demand.
